A review from someone who bought two Nest products

I really like the selection of Nest products BH Photo carries. I went to the B&H site to buy a Nest battery-powered smoke and carbon monoxide alarm and a Nest 3rd generation learning thermostat. I had read about these products online and my neighbor highly recommended the Nest thermostat. I decided that it was time for a new thermostat because my house had a really outdated and unattractive one. The thermostat was really old and the numbers on it were super worn, making it really tough to set a precise temperature. At times, I would think I had set the thermostat to 68 degrees, only to realize that it was set closer to 80 degrees on a perfectly warm day. My heating bill was so high and erratic. I knew I was losing money and had to find a better solution.

BH Photohas a really great rundown of the Nest learning thermostat’s features. It made it really easy to understand the device’s capabilities and settings. What I really like is how the Nest thermostat connected to my Wi-Fi and let me control the temperature from my iPhone or MacBook. Sometimes, you just don’t feel like getting out of bed, so if you’re like me, then you’ll love the thermostat’s remote control feature.

The Nest app for iPhone made it really easy to set up my thermostat, check on its status, and change settings. I really like how I can set the learning thermostat to “Home” or “Away” mode straight from the app. It’s really nice to be able to lower or raise the temperature from the palm of my hands or from my work office.

It's also really nice to get reminders to change HVAC filters to prevent energy waste and avoid major issues. Another cool feature is weather tracking; the thermostat actually automatically adjusts based on the weather in your area to keep you comfortable and help you save energy.

I'm also really happy with my Nest smoke alarm and carbon monoxide detector. I like how this smoke alarm has built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity. One of the best things about the Nest protect is smart device alerts. I forget to change the batteries in my TV remote, so it gives me great peace of mind knowing if there’s or problem or when its batteries are running low. Unlike traditional smoke detectors, the Nest Protect looks for both fast and slow-burning. I’m also a big fan of the pathway light; it illuminates the area under the detector and lights up the path to my kitchen, which is great when I make my nightly rounds for a glass of water.

I couldn’t be happier with these purchases from B&H. I look forward to adding more Nest products to my home in the near future.
